Putin Aide Accuses UK of Ruining US, Russia Ties
Nikolay Patrushev, a veteran security official and top Kremlin advisor, asserted that London might carry out a so-called "false flag" operation to obstruct US President Donald Trump's attempts to bring the Ukraine crisis to a resolution and reestablish normal relations with Moscow.
According to Patrushev, “If necessary, London would easily stab Washington in the back.
I believe officials in the White House realize what kind of ‘ally’ they are dealing with,” as he told a news agency.
These remarks were made in the wake of accusations made the previous month by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
The SVR alleged that British intelligence agencies were playing a direct role in coordinating secret Ukrainian missions.
The SVR further claimed that the UK had obtained torpedoes originally designed by the Soviet Union and Russia, supposedly to be used in a fabricated assault—specifically, a faked strike on an American naval ship stationed in the Baltic Sea.
Since Trump resumed office in January, following the exit of Joe Biden and his Democratic administration, Russian authorities have consistently blamed London as the main actor prolonging the Ukraine war.
They maintain that the British government’s unwavering support for Ukraine is a hindrance to peace and part of a calculated plan to prevent any rapprochement between Washington and Moscow.
Moscow continues to depict the war in Ukraine as a NATO-led proxy battle, designed to drain Russia’s strength, all while Ukrainian lives bear the cost.
